Gone on HolidayIt’s tough work being a Vandal, so every now and then I need a little break. This time it will be an intercontinental, overseas, abroad, change of hemisphere type of flying break for a few weeks as I take some time off to catch up with family and friends back in Australia. Of course there are plans afoot for beer, wine and peanuts aplenty during my time back home, so I certainly won’t die of starvation or dehydration.

There are also plans that involve my grandchildren, so I have been saving my pennies for a while now, as they can be quite expensive to go shopping with. You know, ice cream, chocolates, milkshakes, sweets and potato chips along with the odd eye catching toy thrown in for good measure – every day! As they are young fellas, I’ve been in training for a little while so I don’t throw my shoulder out of place the very first time I throw a cricket ball at them to promptly hit over the garden fence.

And no, I haven’t forgotten to pack my sunscreen and a hat. After so long in Switzerland I’m probably highly allergic to sun by now, so I’ll be careful. The only thing I’m probably not looking forward to is insects. I’ve become so accustomed to living in an insect free country.

Anyway, see you all in a few weeks and in the mean time you can of course keep chatting amongst yourselves via my blog’s comments as you always do, and I might just pop my head in on the odd occasion if my iPhone is charged up. Oh yes, that just reminded me. I need to buy an electrical adapter.

So what will you do while I’m gone, other than cry in your coffee?

Waaahaaaaaaa. That’s the sound of me crying into my coffee, Derek. I’m going to miss my daily fix, but I wish you a safe trip, and a wonderful holiday. ;-)

Thank you Niki. I’m sure I’ll have a great time. But just out of interest, do tears in your coffee change the taste? lol :))

Flavour? Must be the sea flavour or something. It’s all salty ;)

Hi Derek! just popped in to wish you a safe and wonderful holiday!
And yes, please do take plenty of pictures as I hear Australia is beautiful! I love the wild life too!
Oh, and watch out for those incoming cricket balls as well! I’ve always had a fear of balls coming toward me.

    Enjoy!. :)

    Bye Bye Bugger!

P.S. All the best with your new novel. I’m very much looking forward to reading it!

I’m new to your website and tweets (been only following for the last few months) but I have much appreciated your posts. I wish you a very well-deserved break down under (where I happen to be).

And what will I be doing while you’re away? Learning about eBooks – I’ve enrolled in a workshop by the Australian Society of Authors. (Your posts have helped me make the decision to move in this direction.)

    Best cheer

Welcome back, Derek. I hope you’re heading for a sunny part, not one of the bits underwater!
