solar cellTimes have changes since this question was first asked. What three things would you take with to a desert island?

With all our sophisticated technical wizardry we carry around with us each day now, just what would we choose to take to a no electricity environment such as a deserted island in the middle of an ocean. There is always the idea of a good book. But once you have read it sixty times it might get tossed into the ocean. A knife has always been a winner, so I think this one might get top votes.

Then of course there are favourites such as girlfriends, nail polish, tooth brush and suntan lotion. Not to mention a comb, frying pan and a box of matches.

Well for me, the top of my list will now be a 14 watt flexible solar cell that will recharge my iPod and electric toothbrush! Of course if I could take another couple of items, my electric razor and radio/alarm clock would be useful additions.

A friend of mine works for the company that makes these flexible solar cells, so I can in no way say this is an unbiased blog entry. However, it doesn’t stop me from thinking it’s a really cool idea.

Here is a link to Flexcell if you are interested.

With something like that, how could we NOT add it to the list?!

+ the gadgets it would charge
    + my favorite blanket :-)
