A recent special investigation by the Washington Post revealing information about the number of secret services operating in the US caught my attention. Not just from the staggering number of agencies, or the incalculable amounts of money spent on what is really just old fashioned spying but the futility of it all. When all is said and done, and after reading the investigative report, all I can conclude is that these agencies are specifically designed to confuse the government, the people and each other.

If we add in the secret services of the rest of the world one can really imagine a huge industry built upon tail chasing. Around and around they go, all chasing each other’s tails in an ever increasing circle of data overloaded confusion, misunderstanding and mistrust.

Add in the recent fiasco of discovering ten Russian spies in the US, and you really have to wonder if the Caper Cops really do exist and are now in actual fact, running the combined international intelligence services.

After reading all about the so called ‘Secret America’, all I can conclude is that Agent 86 aka Maxwell Smart is needed more than ever to bring some professionalism back to the art of spying.

I sometimes think the world of espionage is nothing more than a real caricature of Agent's 86 and 99 Derek.

You're right when you say that Maxwell Smart should be in charge. At least with him at the helm, they wouldn't be able to take themselves as seriously as they do at the moment.

Bring back Max, 99 and the Chief for all our sakes. :)
