Although I run my mouth (well, typing fingers actually) almost every day here on my blog, I must tell you that I am actually a very shy, retiring and quiet fellow really. In many ways, the complete antithesis of The Vandal who pens every post in this blog.
Well, yes The Vandal is me, but he is the little part of me that likes to make a noise, a fuss, shout, upset people, make people laugh and then dance on a table dressed in a grass skirt singing songs from Blue Hawaii. Whereas the rest of me likes to smell the roses, read a book and generally have a nice quiet time with my dog. Hence the photographic proof of my point.
I should also point out that even though I have now published nine books, only six of them are mine really. Three should properly carry The Vandal as the author and not Derek Haines. I like to write full length novels while The Vandal is the short and sharp short story and micro-story writer. Some have even said The Vandal’s books are ideal for being placed on a wire hook in the smallest room in the house, but I won’t comment on that.
Enough to say that we are one, but different. Similar yet contrasting. Confusing for some yet perfectly natural for others. Well, the others being those who are comfortable in the company of people with two heads. Why does Zaphod Beeblebrox spring to mind?
